Crytek has announced layoffs within the company due to financial challenges. As a result, approximately 60 employees—15% of the staff—have been let go from the team of 400 employees.
The announcement also revealed that Crytek has temporarily paused development on the new installment of Crysis, a decision made as early as the third quarter of 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on the expansion of Hunt: Showdown 1896.
While Hunt: Showdown 1896 is still growing, Crytek cannot continue as before and remain financially sustainable. Even after ongoing efforts to reduce costs and cut operating expenses, we have determined that layoffs are inevitable to move forward. Crytek will offer affected employees severance packages and career assistance services.
Crysis 4 was announced in January 2022, but since then, the developers have not shared many details about the project.
