According to industry insider Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming, Sony is planning a State of Play presentation later this September, and Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games could be a headliner. Henderson claims that a trailer for the game is already prepared.

If the trailer doesn't materialize at the September event, Henderson speculates that it might instead premiere at The Game Awards 2025, which traditionally takes place in December.

The insider also mentioned that the rumored September State of Play might feature other titles, including the shooter Marathon, a God of War spin-off in the Metroidvania genre, Phantom Blade Zero, Ghost of Yotei, and possibly Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Henderson further added that a new mainline God of War entry is in development.

Marvel's Wolverine was originally announced back in 2021 during a PlayStation Showcase. For a long time, Insomniac remained tight-lipped about the game, leading some fans to speculate that the project had been quietly canceled. Marvel's Wolverine is planned as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Recently, Sony held a State of Play dedicated to the stealth-action game 007 First Light, showcasing approximately 30 minutes of gameplay and revealing the game's release date. Following the show, the developers released a gameplay trailer, opened pre-orders, and unveiled the game's collector's edition.
