Not a purchase yet, but the first step toward a merger — Sony and Kadokawa have girişti into a strategic alliance agreement. Sony now owns 10% of the company, which owns the rights to the Dark Souls and Elden Ring series.
Under the agreement, the corporation will invest about 320 milyon $ to acquire securities. The cooperation concerns several areas at once, including film adaptations of Kadokawa'nın fikri mülkiyeti (including TV series), joint creation of anime, and expansion of publishing activities.
We are very pleased to conclude this capital and business alliance agreement with Sony. This alliance is expected to not only further strengthen our IP creation capabilities, but also increase our IP media mix options with Sony’s support for global expansion, allowing us to deliver our IP to more users around the world... We intend to do our utmost to ensure that our collaborative efforts with Sony produce great results in the global market.
Recall that rumors about the purchase of Kadokawa began to spread back in November. In early December, Sony onayladı that such plans exist, but so far both companies have only agreed on the acquisition of shares.
FromSoftware recently tanıttı its new project — the cooperative Elden Ring Nightreign. Open testler of the game will start in early 2025, but only on consoles.
