Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Co-Creator Criticizes Modern Games For Boring Plots And Characters
Diana Golenko
Game director and scriptwriter of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Daniel Vavra decided to speak out on the quality of modern games. He noted that the script of most projects does not reach the level of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Red Dead Redemption, and voiced his assumptions on this matter.
Since the sequel to the historical RPG turned out to be quite successful, Daniel Vavra discussed the recipe for a good game. Not least of all, the scriptwriter is sure, was the excellent narrative.
I dare to say, that among other things, people like KCD2 for its believable characters and story. I like such games too and thats why we tried to make one. And the question is - why is there so few games with stories like RDR, MGS or W3? Why are stories in games so often so bad?

The answer to his own question followed immediately — the co-author of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is sure that the whole problem is in the pragmatic approach. He compared games with films and said that game studios underestimate the work of scriptwriters:
My opinion is, that games, unlike movies, are developed more as a product, with teams and boards etc. While Hollywood understands, that they need to have artists first - director and screenwriter. They they need a vision and its holder, despite the risks associated with it.

However, not all players agreed with the opinion of Daniel Vavra. Many rightly noted that film production in recent years has also suffered from script problems that have struck the gaming industry.
Earlier, we recall, the developer from CD Projekt RED praised his colleagues from Warhorse Studios for the excellent life simulation in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
