Byte Family is an action-adventure set in a cyber world overrun by viruses. The antivirus pixel must save the system and stop Ermes Boss. Along the way, the player overcomes obstacles, unlocks modes and skills, discovers secret stages, and talks to characters who may offer useful information.
The game has five modes with different objectives. Challenge mode focuses on clearing stages and saving the system; Record mode calls for dodging swarms of Alicops and lasting as long as possible on an R3302; and Prison mode tasks the player with eliminating all the viruses before they reach the hero. In Record Pro, the goal is to survive among Alicops for as long as possible using the Infinity Jump technique. Difficulty increases gradually, with gameplay elements introduced over the course of the stages.
