Mortal Kombat 3 is a fighting game in which warriors battle the returning Shao Kahn, who has resurrected his bride Sindel and begun an invasion of Earthrealm. Players select a character and fight through a series of opponents; in single-player mode, the “Choose Your Destiny” screen lets them set the number of opponents.
The combat system adds a Run button and a meter that is depleted by dashing and performing combos. Chain combos are predefined sequences that cannot be interrupted once the first hit connects. On some stages, an uppercut can send an opponent into another arena, and the finishing moves include Animalities, in which the victor transforms into an animal.
