This role-playing game is set on an alternate Earth, 200 years after the Great Blank, a war that reduced the former civilization to almost nothing. Humans now live in cities, while Hunters venture into the wilderness to fight monsters and protect the settlements. In Phantasy Star Ø, players create a Hunter by choosing from three races, different classes, and genders, for a total of 14 character types with distinct traits and equipment.
Exploration and combat let the character gain experience and meet new characters. The game features more than 350 weapons, and venturing farther into the world gradually reveals the mystery of the Great Blank and a new threat. Wireless multiplayer modes include Visual Chat, which lets players create commands displayed as text bubbles above their characters.
