This 3D platformer follows Sonic and his friends as they collect the Chaos Emeralds and try to stop Doctor Robotnik from harnessing the destructive power of the ancient being Chaos. The story unfolds through the campaigns of six characters—Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, and the robot E-102 Gamma—each with distinct gameplay.
The game combines high-speed stages, adventure fields, and minigames. Characters have different objectives: Sonic races through levels, while Knuckles searches for fragments of the Master Emerald. Minigames include racing, and players can also interact with Chao, virtual pets.
