This open-world horror adventure takes place in Hanwell, a city where anomalies roam the streets and once-protected buildings no longer offer safety. The rest of the world has closed its gates, leaving Hanwell behind, and the Hanwell Council of Public Protection (HCPP), formed to guard against the threat, has fallen. The protagonist tries to carry on amid failing equipment and a lack of warnings while being stalked by a mysterious individual.
Players explore the city’s districts and buildings, including homes, pubs, parks, shops, supermarkets, and the HCPP research center. Each location has its own backstory connected to the protagonist’s arrival. When confronted by anomalies, players can pick up objects to fight them or choose to run.
