Zeit² is a side-scrolling 2D shoot ’em up built around time travel. The player can move into the past and interact with a time-shadow, combining attacks and gaining assistance in battle. Speeding up time awards extra points, while completing 70 challenges requires balancing time travel against the life-energy reserve.
The Arcade mode spans 20 chapters, and five additional modes include Score Attack, Survival, Wave, Time Limit and Tactics. The main weapon can be upgraded three times, and auxiliary systems include Beam-Shot, Chain-Shot and Shockwave. Battles against eight bosses punctuate the action, while a bonus system awards score multipliers for shooting every enemy.
